Historical Context
Design No. 26, created in 1898, falls within the first decade of A. Mylne & Co.'s practice. The office, founded in 1896, was establishing its reputation through designs for small cruising yachts and day-sailors suited to Scottish waters. Builders such as A.J. Fryers of Largs were key partners in realising Mylne designs; Largs was a centre of Scottish yacht construction in this period. The survival of Tresta into the 21st century, albeit with later modifications, reflects the robustness of Mylne's early designs and the enduring interest in small craft of this era.
